how can I fix a faulty key ring transmitter for the car immobiliser?

I have a Saab P reg. convertible 2200 cc. The remote control fob which is on the key ring has gone open circuit. Saab main dealer says I have to buy not only a new transmitter (around £60) but also the receiver/immobiliser unit (mounted inside the car) at a cost of £1200! Does anyone know of a specialist electrical company who could tackle this job at a more reasonable cost?
