I HAVE A FORD GALAXY GHIA X TD AUTO DIESEL?

IT WAS NOT RUNNING RIGHT SO A MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT AND THE TURBO PIPE HAD POPPED OF IT WAS PUT BACK ON. THE CAR WAS DUE A SERVICE SO WE TOPPED UP BREAK FLUID, OIL ETC AFTER 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL AND A HUGH FOG OF DARK GREY SMOKE BEHIND US.
WE CALLED THE AA OUT WHEN THEY CHECKED THE OIL IT WAS EMPTY ALSO THE TUBE TO THE TURBO HAD COME BACK OFF THEY PUT THE PIPE BACK ON WITH CABLE TIES SO WE COULD GET HOME AND TAKE IT TO A GARAGE. IT HAS LOST POWER AND JUST CREAPS ALONG I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE.
HAVE YOU ANY IDEA WHAT HAS HAPPENED

I think there is a good chance that the turbo itself has failed - it compresses the air that the engine burns making the motor more efficient. I'm only saying this because you say that you have lost most of the oil - if the turbo oil seals fail it really chucks the oil out. Top up the oil and get it to a diesel specialist pronto for a checkout.
