Can I fix Canon Powershot S45 set/navigation button?

I own a Canon Powershot S45. The SET button used to navigate all menus and alter photo composition isn't working correctly anymore. This is due to general use.

When i want to use the SET button to move down a menu or adjust the F-stop to a lower value the response is poor and i often have to play around in order to get the button to work.

i spoke to an official canon repair tech and he said that the button would be very expensive to repair. So im hoping that someone out there may be able to point me in the right direction to fix this problem myself???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Luke.

YOu could try taking it apart yourself and applying contact spray to the switch under the button.
