My Kenmore Washer keeps filling with water?

It continually fills with water and doesn't stop, just overflows and floods the basement. Which part would that be, and how do I fix it? How do you get inside the Kenmore washing machine? It's a Kenmore 110.

Hillary,

I would say that you have the same problem, your cold water valve is stuck open and the valve needs to be replaced. Let me know how you make out.

This is the answer I found to someone else having the same problem we are (below). JP also answered my question by saying the valve is probably clogged with sediment and since I just had work done on my outside water line, that makes complete sense.

Hello,

If water continues to flow into the washer when it is shut off there is probably sediment trapped where the water supply valve seats. Replacing the valve should solve your problem.

Hope this helps you!

I'm having the same problem with my Kenmore Series 70 and have also posted a similar question. The Customer Service person at Sears said it sounded like the Cellonoid however I have not been able to confirm that information as of yet. Mine fills with cold water (hot water works fine) even when the machine is off! I hope somebody out there can help us!
