how do i repair a hotpoint aquarius TDC30 condenser dryer?

The machine has worked perfectly for 18 months. The air intakes (front and rear) , filter, and condenser unit are all cleaned regularily.

The unit now starts and runs ok, but cuts out after a couple of minutes on "drying". Wait a couple of minutes and it will restart and then cut out within seconds. It will auto-reverse if it gets that far in the cycle, and is heating the drum contents.

I'm guessing that there is a thermal cut-out or thermostat, but how do I identify it and check it?

All help gratefully received!

Hi all, Ive had my TDC-30 for around 6 years now, regularly cleaned etc, all of a sudden yesterday it stopped heating, otherwise it works perfectly, just isnt getting hot now, any advice will be welcome?

Is the relay unit the same as a start relay, which is listed on www.hotpoint-spares.co.uk?

Thanks Tony! I followed your advice and the dryer works fine again (although it took me nearer to 10 minutes!).
This seems to be a fairly common fault judging by the questions on this forum so I've posted the cure to several other questioners.

The fault was in an easily accessible and replacable relay unit, available from most electrical spares outlets, at a cost of £24.

Remove the top of the dryer, and (facing from the front) there is a square unit with a number of connections - this is the unit to replace. Takes about 5 minutes from start to finish.

I have exactly the same problem and am trying to research it. Are you happy to share info on this?
