RCD Tripping on RF Aerial connection?

I have run an additional RF cable to my bedroom to provide an aerial feed to my set-top-box (STB). I had everything connected but when I connected the aerial to the STB it tripped the RCD. I tried the same set up with the same equipment in my son's room and no problems; I've also tried it with his equipment in my room, again with no problems. However, when I swap back to the original set up, it trips the RCD! It also happened after I had connected the STB to everything except the TV but only tripped when I tried connecting the SCART lead from the STB to the TV. Can anyone help?

hi if your R.C.D is tripping then R.C.Ds only trip because of a dead short in either the rf lead or the scart lead i.e a set top box rf arial input has a small voltage aplied to it to suply the L.N.B. if the cable has a short in it or even a kink in the cable it could cause a short in the output voltage to the L.N.B. and trip the R.C.D . hope this helps

When you tried it in your son's room did you use the same RF feed (ie run an extension from your room to his)?
If not, try that. Then try running a power extension lead from his room to yours and try running your equipment from that.
