My JVC TD W217 double cassette player makes a squeaking noise and sometimes eats tapes.

You need to take it apart and look at the gears & wheels that the tapes run through. Most likely you will find pieces of cassette wraped around them. Thats causing it to drag & pull other tapes into it. So open it up and remove thes pieces of tapes & it should work fine. Hope this helps you
