motor start capacitor can i use a 4 terminal one in place of a 2 terminal?

Hi, I have a tumble dryer which tries to get started, hums, sometimes goes, especially if you give it a quick spin by hand then press the start button. i have been told that it is probably the motor start/run capacitor. The one fitted is a 7 microfarad 2 terminal one but the closest replacement I can find is a 4 terminal 8 microfarad one. Can this be fitted? if so - which of the 4 terminals should I attach the wires to? The wires on my original were different colors but there were no markings on the capacitor to indicate that it mattered which should go where.
Thanks

Always best to keep the microfarad rating the same eg 7mfd. The capacitor creates a precise phase shift between the two windings to create a rotational magnetic field in the windings. At least mark the 8mfd with 7mfd or next you may think a 9 is near to 8 and on and 0n till the motor windings phase shift is so great the windings fight each other magnetically and the motor burns out

yes. Some capacitors come with 4 spade terminals but are joined so there is only still 2 direct connections to the capacitor.
8 microfarad should be fine
