how can i fix my 2000 ford mondeo estate near side handbrake?

when it was really cold below freezing, my Nearside handbrake seemed to stick as if it was freezing up. found it dificult to release it. but after a while it would go back to normal. it seems to stick a little.Its about 30% working. can you give me an solution. Many thanks.

Strip down the brakes it will be any or all of the following; sticking / siezing hand brake cable, build up of brake dust in the drum, hand brake cable lever on the brake shoes siezing / sticking, if you have disc brakes on the back of your car and the handbrake cable operates the handbrake via a lever on the brake caliper you may find the caliper is sticking. If any of the above are the fault then it is clean, lubricate (copper grease) or replace if it is beyond help.
