How can we fix our hotpoint wd860 washer dryer?

My brand new hotpoint wd860 washes fine, when it comes to tumble drying, the thermostat keeps cutting out. Its 7 weeks old and weve had one new thermostat and are awaiting another engineer.

Any ideas for the problem of why the thermostat goes wrong after about 10 days?

We would like to know
a) whether its a manufacture fault
b) whether the thermostat should reset itself
c) why it is getting so hot that it cuts the thermostat out

I don't know if this helps, but we had a problem where our WD860 displayed the message "tESt". It would not pump water in or out, but seemed to repeatedly cycle through a tumble and slow spin. Hotpoint refused to explain the meaning of the message over the phone so we were forced to call out a Hotpoint engineer who fixed it in less than 5 mins by pressing the buttons in a special sequence. The machine had entered a "demo" mode because my wife had pressed the "on" and "start" buttons simultaneously.

This happened on our WD860, and is a common problem. The fault is the temp sensor, which is not correctly rated, so replacing it just creates the same fault again. Our Hotpoint Engineer replaced the sensor for the correct, higher rated one, and it worked fine.

So a) It is the manufacturers fault
b) the thermostat will not reset itself; it broke.

However, the machine has just developed another fault, where it will only do a test cycle, and not wash, and the screen display is failing. Not too good! Get another model under warantee?
