Email Domains ?

For what reason would a sender have an email addresss with two domain endings eg: .ch.pn
Ch is Switzerland and .pn is Pitcairn of fthe main island of four Islands in the South Pacific ocean and the two domain areas are so far apart I am curious why someone would add another domain to their emails address.
Many thanks for your responses.

Sorry its late Electro what a mind of information you are. I will copy all your information on to my file bank so I don't forget what it is or why they use two exentions. I always thought, wrongly, each was a country code, how wrong can you get! once again many thanks been late in replying due to out of action on hospital visits and pre op checks

The last part is the top level country code.
The one before is a SUB domain or second level domain code.
In your case, the .ch. must refers specificaly to one of the four islands of that country.

In the United States, you have the same where .ca.us refers to California, while .ca by itself refers to Canada.

.on.ca is for the Canadian province of Ontario and .qc.ca is for the province of Québec.
