Can you add oil to gear Box?

With the Simpson Genesis can you add oil to gear box via the breather tube have been told box is low in oil causing agitator to go one weay

You have been told wrong. Low on oil will not cause the agitator to go only one way. Those gearboxes will continue to work as normal until they dry out and eventually seize up. Agitate only one way can be caused by a brake release not working, clutch problem, timer or controller problem. You will tell by the sound. If it runs one way & locks up on the reverse then it will be clutch or brake problem. Goes one way & no sound at all on reverse then look at timer or controller. Leaking oil will be evident underneath with oil sprayed all over inside of cabinet. There is no breather tube. gearbox will have to come out of machine, lower gearbox shaft & plate removed. Oil seal replaced and new oil added. No other way to add oil.
