RENAULT LAGUNA ABS LIGHT ON?

Are there any simple solutions to the abs light being stuck on other than visiting main dealer who charges you just for walking through the door.
I'm positive this is an electrical fault and not a problem with the abs.

I have a 2004 1.9 dci Laguna and the ABS/ ESP Service light comes on intermittently. It has been on nearly continuously(it went off for a bit after front tyres were changed and after a front wheel bearing was done) since Christmas however since the temperature has risen to more than 10 degrees celcius it has gone off but in the mornings when it is colder the light comes on but in the afternoon when it is warmer it goes off straight away when I start engine. I have been quoted €1200 to replace abs pump and don't want to spend that much.

I had the same problem with intermittent abs/service light coming on, this happened after I took the car to a garage to have the clutch replaced. I had a local mechanic look at it and he connected a diagnostic unit to the computer and it showed as a sensor fault on the off side front, which seems strange as the nearside front is the side that had to be dismantled to work on the clutch. He checked both sensor cables, all was ok, he reset the computer and all was well for about 2 months then it started again, went through the same procedure and again it lasted for a couple of months and showed again. The only thing we can think of is there maybe a bad earth connection since the original garage put the car back together.
The car is a 2004 1.9 laguna

After 9 years and 430.000km my abs system lights pop on and off. Garage replaced one sensor supposed to be the troublemaker but problem still excists. The abs service specialist thinks its the abs pump and regulator that is causing the problem. New costs 900 euro. Is to much for my old car. Could it be the brake fluid? Since I red in a motor magazine that old brake fluid can cause failure of the abs system?? Who know and answer? It looks a bit strange that failure off cables in my seat will cause the abs system to fail but will look in to this possibility.

I have a 1998 Renault Laguna 2.0 RT and on occasion the ABS warning light comes on. The reason for it is nothing to do with the ABS but the seat belt pretensioner. Where the seat belt clips in, there is a plastic moulding around the seat belt restraint, if you put your hand inbetween the seat cushion and the moulding you will feel various cables - if you play about with them, the warning light will go out!

Hi, I have the same problem, when ABS and serv light is on , the ABS stops working and after switching off and starting the car again, the light goes off and ABS starts working. I went to renault service center and they told me that I have to change ABS kit, which will cost 1300 euros. I told them that i'll come some other day. And as u can guess that I will never go to that place again because my car as whole costs 1200 euros.

I recently had this problem with my R reg Laguna after having a new wheel bearing fitted. When I drove away from the garage, the SERV and ABS lights came on and stayed lit. After some trips backwards and forwards to the garage, it was found that the wrong type of bearing had been fitted. Lights now out, and all ok.

if your abs light is on this is a problem with your abs, this means when the light comes on your abs is shut down for safety reasons. you still have brakes but no abs.sorry but it may cost you. it could just be a sensor problem,it may not be regestering the ring this can happen if it gets too corroded.or could be your pump or your computer.there are other garages to try you don't need to goto a main dealer.
