My Robert Unologic won't work on the batteries but will on mains?

I dropped the Roberts Unologic radio and now it will work when plugged in to the mains but not on the recharge able batteries.
When it is plugged in the recharging light remains off.
Should I buy new batteries?
Any ideas welcome.

I suggest you try your radio with a new set of cheap, 'ordinary' batteries before spending lots of money on rechargeables (or try charging the rechargeable batteries on an external charger). If the radio works then it's likely to be the internal charger that is now at fault.

It was fine until you dropped it...

Consider that the shock of being dropped has caused an open circuit in the battery compartment.

It's unlikely that you have actually damaged the batteries.

Should you buy new batteries? That's your call - I wouldn't
