engine check light came on after changing spark plugs?

After changing spark plugs on 1999 ford excort zx2 the car run rough and the check engine light came on it sounds like its not running on all four cylinders I installed autolite plugs gaped at 55 the wires are not crossed. thank you

Did you put back the ht leads the exact way they came off.Firing order on them i think is 1342 but please check in haynes or garage.Maybe two leads wrong way around

If the light has come on after fitting the plugs it would be fair to suspect them

1 try fitting some better plugs ( autolite ??? ) if possable orignal ford ones

2 you may have a faulty plug lead again replace with good quality leads

Atford we use silicon grease in the plug leads..
