i have an estimate of £140 to change the bearings in my hotpoint aquarius. can i buy them direct and fit them myself

wouldn't bother buying bearings, its the biggest job on a washing machine the whole drum has to come out of the casing, its a nightmare

I bought a rear drum with the bearing already installed for £42
from a service repair center. It took about three hours to complete. You have dismantle nearly every thing to do the job, but wasn't too bad to do.

I have the same problem and ran across your message when searching for an answer. I am told you can buy the bearings from the Hotpoint Spares dept. TEL 01733 568989.
I foresee a problem removing the drive belt pulley from the bearing/centre of the drum prior to getting at the bearings, perhaps this will require the use of pullers?
