Why doesn't Windows show me Thumbnails for Photoshop files?

Windows shows a Thumbnail in Windows Explorer for most image files, but not for ".psd" files. (Photoshop files.) How can I get Windows to show me Thumbnails for Photoshop files?

Follow the steps at:

http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2005/12/13/adobe-cs2-and-the-case-of-the-disappearing-thumbnails/

Worked for me.

This functionality was removed in Photoshop CS.

Go to http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files.php/dllfiles/P/psicon.dll/download.html
and download "psicon.dll"

Copy this file to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\

Your thumbnails should be back.

Because Windows can only handle "normal" image files such as JPEGs,GIFs and BMPs,so it can't even convert them to thumbnails.
Got to http://www.irfanview.com,download it,and make it your default Windows image viewer, this will then allow you to view PSD files, you may however need all the plugins as well to do this.Irfanview is a brilliant bit of kit, very small to download at under 1Mb.
