how can I fix my handbrake on peugeot 406?

my handbrake on my Peugeot 406 HDi is very loss and I can not find the handbrake adjuster to tighten it. should I be looking inside the car or underneath?

if you remove the rear wheels, theres a rubber gromment in the wheel disc/drum on the hub. remove this and ( with the hand brake off) spin the drum until the hole the grommet came out is at about 11 oclock. using a torch and a long flat blade screwdriver you should be able to see the adjuster. move the adjuster until the brake starts to stop the drum from being able to spin. this should be fine for that side repeat on the other side and you should find a much improved handbrake. Would of being better if pug fitted an automatic adjuster!

is this true for 406 hdi estate(03) i was told by a garage the handbrake has a adjuster inside the drums were there are seperate shoes specifically for the handbrake.
