remove the lid of appliance, with your left hand pull the motor to the left as far over as you can, dont worry the whole drum will pivot on the suspension, on the far right hand side of the motor you will see a single wire leading to the brush situated on the right hand side of the motor, pull this usually white spade connector cover from the brush and use a long small flat blade screwdriver to flick the brush holding clip inwards you will find it just above the single wire previously removed, before putting the new brush in,connect the wire you removed previously on to it(new brush)on the side of new brush you will see a small brass coloured holding pin,use a small screwdriver and flick the pin up and the carbon brush will pop up,use your finger to press it in and out make sure the pin is still not holding it and the brush pops up and down freely-now put the new brush into the motor and push in till you hear it click in and now repeat these actions to the other brush on the left hand side of the motor-the right hand side is the hardest and it may be easier to try the left hand side first so you get the hang of it,always remember how you remove the old brush and you will have no trouble replacing the new-all sounds hard but its very easy,i can do both in less than 5minutes-trust me... when you have finished make sure the machine is empty and select the spin cycle which is a whirly circle at the end of the spin cycle provided the drum has spun the machine is ready for use,if it does not spin the just retrace your steps and check the brushes are firmly in and you cant pull them out and the sigle wire is re-connected to each brush if this still does not work then the motor is faulty i.e armature damaged or pcb control has blown the motor relay on it,to replace either of these parts you would need an engineer........

found it by taking the motor off, yes there is a little plastic lug that holds it. if you could see the end that stick out for the motor eg opposite side to the V that faces you, there is a little lug there, press behind wiht pliers or fingers (room is very tight) and the brush comes out, it has nothing to do with the plastic that makes up the V shape . . it is on the other side of the bush (other side not other end, you can reach it without removing the motor, Doh !) . . good luck . . there are also loads of em cheap on ebay . . have a look, some of the pictures will show you the lug on the otherside of the V...
