My Peugeot 307 rear door will not open - how do I get to open it?

My Peugeot 307 (2002) rear door is stuck shut. I can hear the mechanism clicking when I lock & unlock the central locking. Both the internal and external handles pull out fully, but do not open the mechanism. Do I have to remove the internal door trim to get at the mechanism to see if something has broken or come loose - if so how do I remove the trim ? Any other ideas on how to get the door open ?

if the switch in the lock is broken, you can open the boot without removing the trim. There is a small hole on the left of the lock plate on the inside of the boot. If you push a small screwdriver or metal coathanger into the hole, the switch is bypassed and the lid will open. Magic.
