leaking kenmore washer?

I have a front loading kenmore model number 417.41142000
It is leaking from what appears to be a two piece plastic tub surrounding the metal one. Is this a common problem with this washer and is there a fix for it without a service call. thank you

I have a Kenmore model #417-43052200 and water leaks underneath to the ground only when the machine is filling uo water at the beginning of the cycle. The black rubber seal that attaches to the drum is loose at the bottom. I took off the bottom panel and can reach my hand up from underneath and into the washing machine. Can't quite figure out how to re-attach or seal that rubber to the drum where it has come apart. Any suggestions?

I just got finished repairing my wife's front loader 417.41142000 washing machine. The seal between the two plastic tub halves was leaking alot. The whole job takes about 3 plus hours to finish. The seal is a round rubber ring that fits in a groove in one of the halves. It's alot of work because you have to disassemble most of the machine. The seal costs about $12. but the labor to have someone do the job is what costs you. The rubber boot that attaches the tub to the door has to be seperated because it's glued and has to be reglued after the installation is complete. If anyone would like to do this job please get a repair manual before you start, believe me you will need it!!!!!!!! Most anyone can do this job as long as they have some machanical knowleage, patience, plus alittle mussel as the tub is very heavy and combersome, Lots of luck Don

I know it's a bit late, but I had the same problem. I just tightened all the bolts holding the 2 piece tub together, and voila, no more problem.

Now tho, the spring suspension has warn thru the mounting tabs causing the tub to fall on the motor, damaging wiring, blowing a fuse and who knows what else. Hopefully it's still fixable.

Sorry to say but your problem seems to be what I had. The repair man said put the machine at the curb. He said the expense is more than what the machine is worth. I paid $750 for the machine and it only lasted 4.5 years. Sears is not what it used to be! Going with an LG I guess
