Fisher & paykel washer hums when it gets to rinse an wont drain ?

Hi my husband told me not to overload my washing machine an I've only done it twice in the 10yrs I've had it. It fill up with water an washes but stops when the rinse light comes up an will not drain. It doesn't beep or anything. Slightly smells on the burning side. It's half filled with water an slightly hums. I need to get this fixed before my hubby finds out. Help please. I'm not sure of the model but it has 7.1 on the front of it next to the fisher & paykel sign.

Thanks Lincoln Appliance, NZ. I had the same prob and tipped up the washer to find a sock tangled in the propellor! You saved me from half a week's worth of soggy clothes and a $135 (excluding parts) repair bill.

The hum is coming from the drain pump which is trying to go. It will overheat the pump if you leave it like that too long. There is something inside the pump blocking it i.e. a clip, tooth pick, bra wire etc You need to manually drain the water out to lighten the weight of the machine. Use a small jug and scoop water out into the sink. When you have as much out as possible, pull machine forward & tip as far back against wall as possible. Look under on front right and locate pump. Try turning the propellor back & forward & see if it comes free. If it does, stand machine up & put on final spin & see if pump runs. If it won;t then pump will have to be taken out and obstruction removed by hand. Make sure power is off at wall socket while you are working underneath.
