do i need a gearbox 2001 transit new shape?

sometimes when i'm changing down gears it wont go in gear, other times in goes in gear no problem, what could cause this last november i put a recon box and new clutch in, any suggestions or do i buy another gearbox?

I'm guessing it's front wheel drive, if this is the case then you need to have new gear selector cables replaced.
