excuse my bad english,... i supose you are using a card reader to perform formats and data transfer, you have to right-click the "my computer" and select propieties, then "hardware" -> "device manager" click on the "universal serial bus controllers then right-click on the " USB mass storage device" click uninstall, then click go up at the "action" button and click Action-> scan for hardware changes, after that windows will install u a default driver for you card reader wich will let you to do all the things like format, data transfer etc., hope this info is usefull for you, at me and other people worked.
