panasonic dvd recorder es15?

This recorder stays in the Please Wait mode for ever if left. after unplugging i manage to put in a disc it grunts 4 times,displays u88 ejects the disc, then goes into please wait again.

The machine is probably toast. Search the net for U88. I've been getting the same problem. No way I'm buying Panasonic again. Support sucks big time.
