What does the code 1017 on the Sony VTX-D500U mean?

I have an old Sony VTX-D500U set top box. After an atuo search there is a full menu display with the available channels on the TV screen. The channels can be scrolled but selecting any given channel does not jump to the selected channel but stays on the menu. The digital display that generally shows the clock, immediately after the tuning process has completed, displays the number 1017 and remains until the unit is switched off and on again. The tuning is then lost and not available. It is a viscious circle.

What does the code 1017 signify and how can this sollution be overcome?

done
the red dot means that there is no signal and a square dot means poor signal

Sorry I am not sure about the code 1017 as I have not come across it yet.

Can I ask you guys for help though.

I have a Sony VTX D500U and have lost all my channels. There is a square red dot just of centre on the screen. When I try adding the channels again it finds none

Can anyone help please.

I also have a receiver that does this. I believe it happens because one has to have the remote. Normally using the back button on the remote will cause the receiver to save whilst exiting. If one is trying to do this with out the remote, from the front panel only, then there is no back button which prompts the receiver to permanently store the channels scanned. This is why they get lost on power down. I am still looking for a remote control for one of these! I presume the error code 1017 indictes that the channel scan has not been saved
