My hitachi C28WD2TN standby light comes on but wont power up?

My hitachi tv has had the screen flickering and the screen has been changing size on its own for the past few months and it now no longer comes on . Is this set going to be worth repairing.

fixed problem myself with advice from other websites. Dry joints around 3 or 4 points on mainboard now good as new
