spares for Creda TVR2?

I have the above tumble dryer and found that the belt had broken. When I came to fit a new one I found that the rear drive shaft and bearing assembly was also broken. I think that this is what it is called but basically it is an assembly that fits through a riveted plate on the back of the dryer. It is a shaft with a split pin that goes through the dryer onto the drum, held on with a bracket with 3 star screws. There is also a square thing that this goes through on the outside of the machine though one edge of this has completely worn away. My problem is that I can't seem to buy this shaft/bearing thing anywhere. I'm getting desperate as we have mountains of baby clothes piling up. Can anybody help?

Donna,

The belt also goes around a shaft on the electric motor that sits at the rear right hand side of the dryer. You almost need to take off all panels to access it though.

Ian, further to my last, there are a few sellers on eBay who sell the kit to which I referred - I obviously can't endorse any or all of them!

Try searching for "CREDA DRUM SHAFT REPAIR KIT" and you will find them.

Ian, the good news is that any reasonably-competent home repairer can undertake this job. Most spares that you will need are available from www.espares.co.uk but note that they are relatively expensive: you might want to check with a friendly local appliance shop as to what they would charge you. Make a list of what you need to replace, e.g. the square rear drum bearing to which you refer is available at:
http://www.espares.co.uk/part/tumble-dryers/creda/37745e/p/1088/720/0/420889/551453/square-rear-drum-bearing.html
I'm sure that when I last bought this, it came as only one piece of a full service kit (NOT the case with the eSpares purchase), so check exactly what you get for the price you are quoted - or you might end up with extra parts left over that you've also paid for.
