My CD player only works when engine switched off in Peugeot 206 LX?

The single deck CD player in my Y reg Peugeot 206 LX only starts when the engine is off. It may resume play on start up but there's no knowing when it will or not. Is this a common problem and is it due to the age of the player, an electrical fault or have I missed a switch somewhere?

I have the same problem in my Y Reg 206 LX so I'm thinking of buying a replacement stereo. My boyfriend works in a garage and has just had one in with the same problem and apparently it is a common fault! I got a quote for over £100 to repair! Sorry!

i have the exact same problem in my 2001 nissan frontier. cd player works fine when engine is off, but as soon as i crank it on, cd player stops. HELP!!!
