How can I make my touchpad mouse work in Acer Aspire 5100?

The touchpad mouse stopped working, after I tried watching an mpg CD which apparently was malfunctioning. Now, the only time it works is for 4-5 sec after I press the enable/disable options in Control Panel/Mouse/device section. There's no conflict reported in the Control Panel/Mouse section, and it reports that the device is functioning properly, but it does not function at all. I tried uninstalling it and updating the software, but reported that the software was up to date, and this method did not work either. What shall I do to make it work again?ACER-ASPIRE 5100, VISTA

Just take outside and beat it with stick, lol just kidding try to reformat your pc then you will have to configutre the touch pad, but if you have droped something on it or keeped it in hot area then it may not work anymore and you may hve to send it in to get it fixed.

My daughter just had the same problem with her 2310. Take the battery out and run from the mains adapter, it should all work now. As a work around, disable ACPI battery control in the system settings. This will allow you to put the battery back in because one of the feet is on the battery and the laptop wobbles otherwise. I don't know exactly why this is, but suspect a duff battery.
Cheers now

Hotkey:
Fn + F7 touchpad toggle, turns the internal touchpad on and off, I hope this is your problem ;)
