1995 nissan micra cvt light on?

fixing my Mreg micra n.cvt (replacing it )?
Hi there, I have put a second hand n.cvt gearbox in my m reg micra as was told the old 1 was dead. The new box came from a m reg donor car that i drove home. Now the n.cvt light stays on. Nissan tell me that it is because you can not replace the box as it is coded to the cpu and that i can not get the cpu reprogrammed to the new box. Is there a way round this, as i dont even have the old box now as i give it to the tat man, or is my car dead and gone. Many Thanks Andy

Hi i rebuild gearbox,s for a living and have done so for over 16 years now. What nissan are telling you is rubbish the gearbox is in no way coded to the cpu.
If the light is staying on then there is a fault,ie the pressure solenoid on the valve body, micro switch on the brake or throttle pedal.
Does it drive ok?
Have nissan scanned the car to check for a fault code?
I have built and supplied these gearbox,s to lots of differant people and have never had to change the cpu.
And i have never had a problem,so i know that nissan are wrong.
If i can help in any other way feel free to e-mail me.
I,ll reply as soon as possable but im very busy at the moment so i would be replying in the evening.

Transmission fluid could be low. It was on mine. Topping up fixed it.

Hi im guessing from when you say it wont let you in,you mean it wont communicate with the ECU?
If this is the case i would first check all the wiring make a wire has,nt been broken in the fitting process.
Secondly the most common cause for this is that the ECU has failed.
Did you jump start the car after fitting the second hand gearbox?
This is a common mistake people make,as when you jump start the car the whole system gets a massive power surge which blows the ECU.
