Hotpoint TC71 Blows Cold?

My 5 year old TC71 no longer heats up, although the drum is still spinning OK.

I gather that either the element or the stats have gone. with the stats removed there is no continuity between the poles, but there is when they're powered. Also the element seems to be intact, as I've tested the continuity on that too.

Is there a better test I can try on these items??

Also, should I need to replace them, what is the best one to try first? (Ie, more likely to have failed?) and of course, where would be the best place to source the parts?

Thanks for any help guys!

I have the excact same issue with my machine... but cant find the Third stat refered to by Paul.

Does he mean the relay that sits just above the drum?

I know this is not an answer but anything you can do to help would keep the wife off of my back... this is a mercy call..lol

if not heater stats at rear of machine try the one just inside front door around top rim this cuts out all power to heater side of dryer

Hi craig
with the stat atill in place take a long noised pair of plires and bridge the stats one by one the left hand stat which is a one shot stat has blown but both need replacing as they come as a kit.

See answer to other request further up page. Mine is a Crusader which is a "Badged" Hotpoint. The timer was the problem
