when you get to the the wlcome scrren does your pc ask if you want to register ? if so when you press yes it just says already registered? then just keeps restarting? if yes then it means that the copy of windows is not genuine.

for ram testing you may find a copy of mem test 86 useful
it boots off a CD, and you can get it easily on an ubuntu cd.

Hello Rich,

sounds like you have either a corrupt file or possibly corrupt ram.

there is a possible fix, if its a corrupted file, you will need your winxp install cd & it must be bootable. make sure your not using the restore cd that you get with some pc's that have pre-installed windows on them.
