Pc keps dropping ip address?

I am running windows xp sp2 and I have to re-boot the pc every 10-15 mins because it keeps losing my ip address, so it says. I have a cable modem and tests say it's working ok. Installed new drivers, uninstalled the ethernet card and then reinstalled. Still only 10 mins of connection! It's an SIS 900 card. Been fine for 2 years. I am at my wits end. Thank you. Louis.

1) Disconnect the ethernet cable from your router to your computer and shut off your cable modem.
2) Go to Network connections from your Control Panel.
3) Find the "Local Area Connection" for your SIS ethernet card and right click it.
4) Select "properties" form the bottom of the list.
5) Under the box labeled “This connection uses the following items:”, uncheck the checkmark for the IPv6 option. Be sure the Ipv.4 options REMAINS checked!
6) Finally, double click the IPv4 option to get to the properties window. Make sure both bubbles are selected for obtaining the IP address and the DNS server automatically. Click OK. Click OK again.
7) Restart your computer
8) Turn on your modem.
9) Plug in your ehernet cable and start sufin' without any interruptions.
