DC05 Dyson just stopped working - any suggestions?

We have a yellow Dyson DC05. It has worked beautifully for about 6 years and now it has just died for no reason. I clean the filters religiously and empty the canister.

Can anybody help?

Is there any smell of burning? Great machines Dysons but the motors don't last for ever. In fact, Dyson claim to fix any vacuum cleaner for £50, irrespective of parts required (filters not included) which makes great sense as the motors are around £35 plus postage.

2 possibles (1) broken flex wire, usually close to the on/off switch or more likely(2) brushes in the motor worn out after 6 years
