How can I make my computer boot faster?

When I switch on my computer, it seems to take an age to boot up. It will take upto 3 minutes before I can run any tasks. I have run msconfig and checked the information there and I seem to have 25ish tasks to run at every boot. I only have 256mb of memory which may be some of the cause. Is there a simple solution???

Open 'my computer'' and right click your main drive, normally c:\. Select 'properties'. click the 'tools' tab. Under 'errors' click 'check now'. Check both boxes, and let it run. It is suprising how many errors this will fix. It may take a while to complete, depending on the size of your drive and many other parameters. Go and have several cups of coffee!! Or take the dog for a walk. Hope this helps.
