Engine Service Light 2001 Renault Clio?

My service light came on yesterday along with a airbag and seatbelt light, it went of this morning then came back on again, is this a serious problem that needs fixing immediately.

I had this light on after I had taken it in for an mot and it had been on for quite a while until I read somewhere that this is a common problem and is usually just a loose wire underneath the drivers seat. I was quoted some ridiculous price to get it repaired, obviously wasn't prepared to pay that amount of money. Anyway yesterday I was vacuuming out the car and thought to my self let me see what wires are actually under the seat, literally all I did was give them all a good wiggle and squeezed the tape back on to the wires and hey presto a miracle the lights went out, I cant tell you how relieved I was to see them go out at last, and I am by no means an expert in anything to do with cars (besides drive them). Anyway I suggest you try this before forking out a small fortune, hope it works.

Can anyone please tell me, which connections are these I have to discinnect and reconnect? I have same issue :(

I think I have this problem but I must be doing something wrong with the fix. I can see the cables and can remove the little wiring assembly but can't remove any connections on it in order to plug them back in?

Help?!

Thanks

incase disconnecting and reconnecting doesnt work, try spraying wd-40 spray while it is disconnected and leave it disconnected for few hours then reconnect again.

I just had the very same prob and thanks to Grimble's answer saved myself a garage bill!

I checked with a garage and they said that it's a common fault with Clios, the connectors under the seats that sense if the seat is occupied become loose. They also said that the air bags will fire in the event of an accident, so I don't know why Craig thinks they won't.

I have this problem, going to try unplugging the connections and re applying.

Will let you know if it works!!

if u airbag light has come on thay won't work if u have a bump and the service light has come on to becuse of you airbag check under the the to front sits becuse there is plug's under there and the two front sit buckle's are ring four ashes reno hope u sort it.

craig, April 2008
hi this could possibly be sumthing to do with 1 of your front pre tension seat belt buckles. the wiring plug under the seat sumtimes gets a bad connect from dust or the seat being moved alot. normally unplugging and plugging them back in sorts the problem. the service light will come on with the airbag light
