There is an F Key at the top that turns your screen on and off to save the battery I think. On my acer there is one.

try the tests but do not get a replacement. i have got the same laptop and i took it apart. and it was the ribbon in the top left corner just besides the power button under the panel. it had come loose. when i put it back in the screen was showing again, just try and fiddle around unplugging and plugging the LCD Inverter cables in and out. the LCD inverter can be found when you take off the panel under the screen where the touch sensative buttons are and then unscrewing the outer case to the screen. and then take the black caseing off and you will see the inverter at the bottom. it has 2 cables coming in and out of a curcit board and has a plastic cover. remove the 2 cables and put them back in. boot up the laptop without putting it back together just to test it,

Fault could either be faulty memory or faulty motherboard. Symptoms seem to be no post. I would double check that its no backlight. This is when the screen doesnt light up but you can make out that the screen is displaying something. Its easier to move the screen as back as you can and see if you can make out something on the screen. If there is something on the screen, then you need a part called an invertor. Otherwise, next step would be replacing or trying some test memory (RAM). After that, if still nothing on screen, take out the hard drive and see if it comes on. If it still doesnt, then its likely that the motherboard has gone faulty and you should seek a replacement motherboard. Easy to fit if you know how to deal with electronic devices, not so easy if you are not comfortable with being responsible for around 20-30 screws and remembering where they go!

Hope this information helps...
