no picture but have sound on my sony triniton 28" crt tv?

just want to know if there ia any point in getting my tv repaired?

the tv just went off whilst i was watching tv and i switched it back on but there was sound but no picure. about 2 minuites in still with a black screen the screen showed some random fuzzy lines of red green and blue along with a loud static noise.

just want to know what the problem is or a guess at it and weather it can be repaired at all?

Any set can be repaired it is the question of the cost and the availability of the parts.

The fuzzy lines with static noise is probably from an arcing in the high voltage multiplier or in the flyback windinngs. I am very sure that the flyback assembly with the high voltage multiplier, and most likely the horizontal output transistor will have to be changed just to start. It is also possible that there may be some failure in the power supply as well.

The set would have to be serviced by an experienced TV tech. As for the cost, it will be a bit expensive.
