Unfortunately I don't have a solution to the problem, but it is NOT the switch arcing. The faint ticking is from the switch mode power supply as it tries to start up, senses an overload & then shuts down. This cycle repeats continuosly, hence the ticking sound.
I used to work with tv's but not anymore. The comment about capacitors in the power supply is probably correct, but which ones? Changing capacitors is beyond the capabilities of most diy enthusiasts - leave it to the pro's.

Looks like it is a generally problem with these tvs as mine went this morning and yes I bought mine from Sainsburys. If anyone knows how to repair or wher I can get a switch it would be appreciated as the tv was fine until I changed channel

Hi, just been looking on net as I have the same problem. Rob - I bought mine from Sainsburys too and it is actually the trader who should sort it, not manufacturer - Sales of Good Act.

I have a Technosonic 3203ID. Same faulty power switch problem. Have any of you guys managed to replace the switch, or know where to get one from?
Sainsburys, where I bought it from 18 months ago tell me that Technosonic have gone into liquidation.

It's the power switch, the sound you're hearing is the switch arcing as the gap between the internal contacts make and break the circuit, replace the switch and it's fixed.

same happening here. I find unplugging all cables works, usually after unplugging the power for a few minutes.

Problem seems to steadily getting worse though, used to be able to get the TV one every two attempts, now takes 10+ attempts, sometimes days :(

hi i have the same problem, the tv just turned off suddenly and now it won't come back on but the standby light keeps flashing and there is a faint ticking coming from the tv at the back. I have changed the fuse (just in case). last person who wrote an answer (Vhris) wrote 'caps in power supply', sorry to sound ignorant but what dos that mean please?
Thank you, Tom
