my comp. shut down while loading and came in to safe mode. i am running win.98. something came up on the screen and i said ok, now i am in safe mode all the time,how do i get out of it? thank you i have a compaq presario 5184

During startup press either f5 or f8 while starting and that should force the machine to start in bios mode. Shut it down and then re-start normally. I think COMPAQ also has a forced startup key combibation to force it into "NORMAL" mode go to the compaq website and type in normal startup routine or bootstrap in the search website bar also check the FAQ'S Your not the only one with this problem! Hope this helps.
