John Deere RX75?

I need to know the part on my John Deere RX75 mower that connects the steering rod to the grooved plate witch lines up with the wheel rod on the wheels . The part apparently feel off duning operation unable to find.

The steering wheel is bolted on - look down a few inches on the side of the steering wheel. Once you have unscrewed the bolt, you have to drive the bolt out with a hammer. The wheel will lift off.

It sounds like we have a similar problem.
It's the steering gear. A crescent shaped gear w/ threaded fittings which the tie rods connect to. You will also need the bushing which goes with. The gear is about $35.00 - $40.00.
I bought the gear, not realizing I actually needed the bushing.
My problem now is, how do I put it on? It appears to me that the steering wheel has to come off, and the steering shaft & gear have to be put together, then slid back into place. I for the life of me can't get the steering wheel off!
If you come up w/ a solution, please let me know.
Also, I still have my old gear, and it is in serviceable condition. I'll sell it cheap ($10.00 + shipping) if you're interested.
