how do i get my gearbox out?

hi i have a vauxhall astra R reg 1600cc, the hydraulic one,my gearbox is broken and needs replacing, i have unbolted it but how do i get it past the sub frame i am really frustrated ca anyone help me

Hi Kevin, unfortunateley you will have to remove the subframe in order to remove the gearbox on this model.
To do this, remove the exhaust frontpipe, release both bottom ball joints from the stub axles, release the anti rool bar from its links to the suspension legs. you will also need to disconnect the steering rack. you can either remove it with the subframe or leave it suspended from the trackrod ends and steering column
once the subframe is removed support the engine and remove the gearbox.
I am afraid that this is not the easiest of jobs.
