Just answered another person with probably the same problem. Your drives must be set so one of them is "Master" and the other "slave" They can't both be set the same. To do this you will have to change the jumper on one of the drives. The drive label usually has a diagram to help you see where the jumper setting are. they are located right next to the big plug that connects the drive to the motherboard. You will see a small box with 4 rows of 2 pins each and a little plastic jumper - move it to the appropriate position and restart your computer. It will now recognize each of them. Hope this helps

1) Check your device manager. Any !'s?
2) When you say "my computer says they are ok" where are you seeing this...in your bios..in your device manager...someplace else?
3) Try deleting any of the below registry keys that are present. Know in advance that deleting any key OTHER than the ones listed can easily turn your computer into a paperweight and force you to completly reinstall windows. If you are not comfortable editing the registry, DONT....and even if you are, make sure to back it up first.

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}UpperFilters"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}LowerFilters"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesCdr4_2K"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesCdralw2k"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesCdudf"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesUdfReadr"
