how do i rewind john deere model bc1600 string trimmer?

how to rewind, and what type of line
dick hinds, June 2008
Unscrew spool assembly by unscrewing (reverse thread) the knob holding the assembly to the shaft. The inner spool assembly has an upper and lower section. A seperate trimmer string is used in each. Start the winding precess by insert the end of the trimmer string in the small hole located at the hub. Wind the string in the direction of the arrows on the plastic. (looking from the bottom this would be counter-clockwise. When the first half of the spool is filled cut the string (leave about 5") and tuck the string in one of the slots on the hub so that it will not unravel. Do the same for the other half. While replacing the spool into the assembly place the loose end of each string into their appropriate hole. Tighten assembly down with the screw that you originally removed. Tug on each string to remove it from the slot that was holding it in place. That should do it.
