fiesta 1.1 petrol N reg speedo not working correctly?

when i drive at about 60/70 mph the speedo jumps up to 100 120 on the dail so i am not shore what speed i am traveling please can anyone help

Hi Neal, the speedo is driven by a mechanical cable from the gearbox, so it could be the cable drive breaking up or the speedo head unit, the cable will be the cheapest to replace or the head unit from a scrappy.
