I replaced the back tire on my john deere LX172 and now it won't move?

Does anyone know if after u take off a flat tire and get it fixed if there is something you need to ensure the drive train will kick into gear it worked fine before I replaced the tire it's a john deere LX172 riding lawn mower

i replaced a rear tire and encountered the same problem. a buddy of mine showed me what i did wrong. a small piece of metal -long and skinny(approx. 3 in) called a key weight has to be in place before you re-assemble the tire on the machine. it spins with the axle and also turns the tire.

is there a keyway in the shaft, and could you misplaced the key not knowing there was one.
that would keep it from moving good luck

The rear wheel is locked to the axle with a square section steel key. My guess is that this key was pushed out of the way when you put the wheel back on - easily done! Take the wheel off again and look for the keyway machined on the axle, with a corresponding one machined onto the wheel hub. The key won't be far away.
