JVC AV-32920, something popped, smoke smell, now TV doesn't work?

After a week away (lightening storm?) I turned on my TV which worked for a minute or two then went black. no power. nothing. smoke smell, but no visible smoke. 7 years old. 32", 'regular tv' (w/tube). is it even worth trying to get fixed or is it by chance a tube i can replace myself?

Possibly an electrolytic capacitor exploded. Usually results in loud pop with fishy smell. If so - cheap.

Always, if you smell smoke will need to be checked over by a qualified engineer.

It won't be the tube.
