Thomson Freeview Reciever - Updating constantly?

My 2 six-year-old Thomson Freeview Receivers have both gone into 'update' mode for the TV Guide at the same time. The receiver switches off and the red light flashes. Normally the update takes a few minutes before the receiver switches back on. These have now been updating for well over 48 hours!

Should I stay patient and hope they will switch back on at some point? Or should I replace them with newer receivers?

Thanks

I find switching mine off at the mains and leaving it 10 minutes then switching back on clears the update procedure when it does this. Mine is 5 years old so possibly the same one. If you cannot get the red light to turn green for any reason I always just switch it off for a while and it seems to clear it.

I have today bought a new Thomson DTR freeview receiver/recorder and have a problem with programming its remote to also work my TV as the tv brand is ONN (Asda own make) and this is not listed in remote codes - any ideas anyone ?
