Alock washer fell out of my sewing machine #2517c a singer. how can i find out how to put it back where it belongs.also having a hard time setting thr zig zag and other stitches HELP

Large spring in first, curved disc, flat disc, curved disc,
large disc with finger, cover with +and-,cone spring,numbered dial, chrome screw, turn the numbered dial so 4 is at the top, push in and tight the chrome screw bit by bit and test sew until you get it right.
